![]() So God said it had to be Jesus who died for us. No one else could do it because the Bible says that everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23) but that Jesus NEVER sinned (1 Peter 2:22 and 2 Corinthians 5:21). It's like if someone breaks the law and has to go to jail, and then someone else who never even broke a law came and said “I will go to jail instead of them.” Jesus took our place. What?!? God's plan was for Jesus to die? Yes! Because when Jesus died he died for US! He took all the sins we did and put it on Himself and was punished for the bad things we did, instead of us being punished. Then as a part of God's plan, He died on the cross. He taught the people and did amazing miracles while He was here. Here's the plan: God sent Jesus, His son, to Earth as a baby (that's what we celebrate at Christmas, Baby Jesus!). But God plan was to bring us back to Him! Remember what happened when Adam and Eve ate the fruit that God said, “don't eat.”? They had to leave the Garden of Eden and be separated from God. God said that when people sin (when they don't obey God) that they would have to be punished for their sin… they would have to be separated from God forever… they can't go to Heaven with Him. But God had a BETTER plan!! His plan was about saving the people from being separated from Him forever. Those messages about Jesus coming true helped show the people that Jesus is who He says He is… that Jesus is God's Son!! For real!! Not kidding!!!ĭid you notice what the people said when Jesus was riding on the donkey? They shouted, "HOSANNA!” The word Hosanna means, "save us.” God's people wanted Jesus to stay on Earth and be their King and make their enemies go away, so they could live a good life. They didn't realize it until after Jesus went back to Heaven. The Disciples didn't realize that these prophecies (the messages about Jesus from a long time ago) were coming true. The Bible had said a looooong time before Jesus came to Earth, that a king would come to God's people, and He would be sitting on a donkey! We call that a “prophecy.” A prophecy is when one of God's special messengers, called prophets, would tell the people something about the man who was coming to save them (That's Jesus!!). Well, Jesus was a different kind of King… He is the BEST King (the King of Kings!). What? Even kings wouldn't ride on donkeys (they would ride a beautiful horse to show they were special). Jesus is God's Son! He is so amazing… yet, He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, "Fear not, daughter of Zion behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's c**t!" His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him." “The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. Here's the story of Palm Sunday from the Bible: Here is a picture of Nacho and me from last year on Palm Sunday!! Maybe you got to see Nacho on a Palm Sunday before at church he's so cool, right?!?! For all of you CCWG kids who are having to stay home today for Palm Sunday.
